In this video, Jared talks about the core mechanics of the Basic Roleplaying system (BRP), the system that powers such hits as “Call of Cthulhu”, “Runequest”, “Pendragon”, and “Dragonbane”, among others. We chose BRP to power “Of Hearth & the Harrowing”, our upcoming Colonial Horror tabletop RPG.

We talk about what sets BRP apart from other games, and a few of the modifications we made while making “Of Hearth & the Harrowing” to make the tailor the game systems to what we needed.

  1. Does anyone else recall when BRP was a "pamphlet" included with Chaosium games?

I really like the "new" BRP and am trying to nudge my players to the skills vs. levels approach…if that makes sense…
