  1. Three years late, but I have a couple of funny stories about this game:

    (1) Before I knew this was going to come out (it had been announced but not released. I was on the fan sites a lot. I actually made my own version and focused it entirely on season one (I think at the time I first heard it was being worked on, season two was still happening) with the idea of doing update material as each season ended. Never happened. I had a lot of fans online who were excited about it, but it turned out they somehow thought I was working on a video game RPG rather than a paper-and-pencil game (I'm old school, and this was the first time I found out those kinds of games were also called RPGs and that I had to specify). Long story short (too late), when I presented my efforts (fully formatted and with screenshots from season one like a read game), no one was interested. I had one disastrous online adventure, and that was it. 🙁

The second story was recently, where I was on a fan site and asked if anyone played the game when it came out and got crickets. I still haven't talked to anyone who actually played it.

I had all the books but lost them when I had to move suddenly due to medical issues, and I haven't been able to replace them becasue people selling them online want 100 or 75 per book. I have them in PDF, but having them printed out is about as expensive, so I'm stuck.

  2. Just found this about a week ago & I’m so beyond excited to run it!!! Thank you so much for this video, it’ll help as a supplemental as I read through/prep lol I appreciate you!

  3. Seems like you need the Supernatual equivilant of an an adventurer's backpack, a duffle bag with an iron crowbar, five pounds of salt, a collapsible shovel, and a half liter bottle of holy water.

  4. I've played this title before and it's awesome. I actually created and played as a female werewolf hunter as in a female werewolf who was a hunter and had control of her werewolf instincts.

  5. I am hearing a lot of "bitching" going on about the game. Books are guidelines, not the be all end all, I will admit the game is by far not perfect. It assumes you are buying and playing the book because you know the source material, and a Good Game Master who thinks outside the book. This isn't D&D 5e where its the "you can't think on your own edition, so if its not in the book it can't happen"

  6. Thanks a lot! I had the idea of design a Supernatural rpg and I just found out it already existed xd
So, I was thinking kind of use Apocalypse World dice system, but this one seems well enough… Maybe I could fix some balance with monsters and also making some class options to give it some D&D avatar flavour to character creation and gameplay.

  7. It might be cool to do a ‘these games do it better or differently” when it comes to playing an IP. Like does Hunter the vigil do this better, or does monster of the week?

  8. The early MWP licensed games are so quaint to look back on, such timidly unambitous things in comparison to the sharp design jump Cortex+ would eventually pursue.

  9. I actually think protracted battles against one enemy makes sense for the source material, you're not mowing down waves of minions, you're hunting one powerful monster. Doesn't fix the other problems though, honestly I think I'll stick with Hunter: The Vigil.
