This is why I kind of really really like things like cyberpunk where you can have really good stuff with the big numbers but you can have the design of something over it like say I have this really ugly shirt but it is super powerful giving me like a hundred extra health spend the night of this really really cool item that's supposed to be legendary but I got it really early on so I can take the cosmetic part of that and overlaid on the ugly shirt then it looks like I have the really really cool version of that outfit or weapon or anything overlaid on top of my my actual character so you get to keep the cool part where you can run around as the super cool guy but really if you took off the skin you would see that the characters wearing a Mitch match of all kinds of clothing that makes him that strong
That's why you make the weapon broken, dulled, or the enemies armored. That way, the final boss could give your sword enough power to become "pure" or something and you just absolutely annihilate them.
Nah… All games are numbers based, even the ones you can't see the numbers in. It's just that rpg scaling can be stupid sometimes and even more so when applied to shooters.
Totally agree, surprisingly since RPGs are my favourite genre. This does irritate me, the numbers ruin immersion almost every time. There should be in-game reasons why some enemies are easier to kill than others
i am so pissed about how this is so common. let me explore the map and do the specific things i want to earn the specific things i want. my main point: i would have liked ghost recon breakpoint if it didn't have its level up system. gr wildlands is so much more fun and one of the reasons is that you can just go from the easiest province in the game to a five skull one just to get your favorite weapons. you create your challenge, your play style, and your experience. you're not forced off of the weapons you like purely because it won't deal enough damage to deal with the next enemy. let my grab my hti and blow up helicopters no matter where i am.
I love RPGs btw, I just want them to be better

Counterpoint in cyberpunk they’re all made of metal

Everything is numbers. Actions in reality can be calculated through physics using numbers.
Shit take lmao

Nice opinion
this is why soulsborne is the best rpg
Okay so what’s your game design solution then?
