Review – Marvel Role-Playing Games

Muffin reviews… the four Marvel super-hero role-playing games: TSR’s Marvel Super-Heroes, Wizards of the Coast/TSR’s Marvel Super-Heroes Adventure Game (SAGA), Marvel’s own Marvel Universe RPG, and Margaret Weis Production’s Marvel Heroic Role-Playing.

Do you think another Marvel RPG should come out, or perhaps an official supplement to Champions or Mutants & Masterminds, or another?

  1. I own Saga and MSH and in my opinion the extended FASERIP system is the best. I've started to play it when Advanced D&D was already available and it's the most RPG game of all. Still love it pretty much.

  2. The Marvel Uncanon Project still produces material for the original FASERIP version of the game (for free). I still run a weekly FASERIP campaign set in a dystopian future controlled by the Sentinels. As for the Heroic version of the game, something didn't click with me on that game. I traded it in after one month for a D&D Spelljammer boxed set (the original one). By now you've probably been aware of the newer Marvel Multiverse rpg. It is a fine product, but FASERIP is still my favorite.

  3. What did you think of the Marvel game they put out a couple of years ago? All I know about is that they had the gall to publish the playtest as a physical book you had to buy. After seeing that I made the active choice not to give the system a chance.

  4. I had the codex for the TSR game, I knew about comic but this explained the character and their powers in such a specific way, i loved it. Never played but it kick started a lifelong comic reading and collecting hobby. cool to see how it works finally….
