I rarely if ever play multiplayer games. In fact, out of the close to 4000 hours I have in the Monster Hunter series, around 3900 of them have been solo. I solo basically everything, not necessarily as a challenge run, but because that’s just the most fun way to play for me. That said, I wanted to see if there was merit to the other side. I wanted to know why some of the most popular games in the world were multiplayer and why to many people preferred this style. So I forced myself to try it out, and this is what happened…

  1. Monster hunter has to be the perfect game that can be enjoyed alone and with others. No one is going to complain when the master rank 100+ guy shows up to help with a monster thats been giving you trouble if you fired out that SOS flare. But at the same time you can play by yourself and progress with getting more material, weapons, armor and just getting better at the game.

  2. I’m just tired of dealing with people. All my negative emotions and negative self thoughts are caused by other people. I don’t know why I have a desire to have friends or talk to people. If I was completely alone I’d feel bad about being lonely, but at least that’s all I would feel bad about

  3. Your argument about competitive difficulty is very silly. Your argument is basically "there is no point in playing and improving in a competitive game because other people are already better than you and you'll realistically never catch up".
    1. By that logic, on average, people who have been playing since the game (any competitive game, including chess) launched should be the highest ranked players and younger newer players should be rare. Some who played the game for 200 hours should not be able to beat someone who played the game for 2000 hours. That is not the case. People often can and do beat players with significantly more time in a game.

    2. "Overcoming a single obstacle requires an insane amount of time and effort". No modern competetive game is going to match a new player with a high skill player. In competitive games the "obstacle" or the goal isn't beating an extremely skilled player, but beating people at your own level and improving your skill. In a single player game, you get stronger because the game says you did. In competitive game you get stronger because you as a person get stronger, more knowledgeable, more skilled. That self improvement is IMO the best part of a competitive game.
