How To Roleplay A Character In An RPG – A Guide To Roleplaying For New Players

During this morning’s stream of my first time playthrough of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, we had a great discussion around ignoring meta to roleplay a character in a roleplaying game. Meaning, ignoring all those things that the PLAYERS know, and focusing only on what the CHARACTER knows, and the CHARACTER’s journey through Skyrim, not MY journey through the game as a player. 1. i know im new to ur channel but i actually found this video trying to search for roleplaying for beginners and i aint gonna lie i play rpgs alot but actually roleplaying is very new to me i have to say tho this is definitely the best video ive found so far ur very precise and unlike many of the other videos that seem to almost insult beginners u word it in a way that doesnt make me feel like a milk drinker for not knowing what im doing so i do appreciate that and ill definitely be joining ur channel fully on pay day lol

  2. I have been roleplaying since i was like 7-8 years old. My brother made simple Dungeons that i got to explore.

Since then i have been a dungeonmaster for several groups for 10 years or so, playing almost every weekend. We mostly played a Swedish tabletop called "mutant. It had a huge emphasis on ROLEplaying. It did not even had levels in it, you could get better in certain skills etc, but it was not even close as a power fantasy that DnD was.

I even have the old books left in my shelf here at home. I am 40 next year, busy being a father nowadays and all my players are scattered around the country, so i have not played for so many years.

But you saying these things made you my favourite streamer, even talking about getting the "meta" out of your head. It is great and needed to be said. Damn, i love you :')

    Cheers from Sweden.
