I can't explain how much my nostalgia neurons exploded when I heard that theme song. You had it backwards. In the comics, Special Missions were the one offs and the main series was the ongoing.
The GI Joe Role Playing game is the one we all played on the playground when we were 8.
Looks pretty fun even if just for the nostalgia.
