  1. My problem with souls like games and why i wish there was less of them taking up good rpg slots is they are: repetitious, boring, weak storytelling, weak quests, weak if any towns to rest stock up gain quests etc, imho ugly graphics,no immersion, stats are useless to a degree just to name a few. All of the things i actually care about in rpgs in favor of fast combat which is nice but the least important thing i care about in an rpg. Elden ring was the only tolerable one and i still never played it past 5hrs despite numerous attempts. No its not the difficulty because that i dont mind per se if i dont have to backtrack forever through boring areas after death. Difficulty and death penalties are welcome in my rpgs as long as they are fun i dont mind losing time or items but when they arent fun and punishing that is an instant uninstall.

  2. To me 2025 was a weak year for rpgs. Expedition 33, yes but the rest wasn't much to my taste. 2026?
    Code Vein 2: Souls-like… i can't stand souls-like. So pass. Nioh 3: i repeat myself: i can't stand souls-like.
DQ VII remake: well, the series never clicked with me so… pass.
Solasta 2: i am carefully optimistic… while i love D&D, Solasta 1 just did not do it for me – sadly, cause i wanted to love it.
Crimson Desert & Gothic-REmake: i am cautious not to get hyped. I want them to be good but the developement-history is… well… a bit troubled.
Blood of the Dawnwalker: looks interesting but i need more information.
Expanse Osiris Rising: Oh i am hyped… but i doubt it will release this year. My bet is Owlcat will release WH40k Dark Heresy first… which i am ok with since Rogue Trader was really good and they seem to adabt more of the pathfinder-rpg-system into it for the sequel.
Showa: seems a bit weird but could be fun.

  3. Most of these games are designed to be played by people who enjoy this thing. It's not designed to be romanticized by beliefs of people who think that there's going to be more to it than there actually is. Given the symmetry of the experience from the past to the present, it will be more of the things make people feel good about playing games of this sort.

  4. I just want a new RTWP cRPG. I'm so fucking tired of all the shitty turn based combat games. They're so fucking slow and unchallenging. Gimme another Wrath of the Righteous, for the love of god!
