It feels like every game is counted as an RPG. After seeing people confused in my comments section, I took it upon myself to define the genre for them.
If I’m honest, this video turned into more of a hit piece against Baldur’s Gate 3 fans, rather than an informed dissection of the role-playing game genre. Still, in this video I answer key questions like; “what is an rpg?”, “what is role-playing?”, and “what is a role-playing game?”, establishing the hallmarks of the genre.
