Gothic 1 and 2 have so much fantastic game design that its hard to find them even in modern games. Just the fact that defeating a human knocks them out instead of killing them is a huge part of the world and nearly no other game does this. I love the design that you are just another dude which is seen by the fact that every single other NPC can have the same capabilities and abilities you can have.

I would recommend playing the Gothic Games with the German Voiceacting and the Subtitles you can read. The German voiceacting is so damn good its a whole different expierence.

Theres an infinite gold in the game if you are ready for some honest work 😀
You can do this at the start of the game. Instead of going for hunter apprentice, go for Harald- the blacksmith. (There are 2 easily obtainable orc weapons near the town.)
– 1st learn blacksmithing from Harald (only the 1st sword for 2LP)
– 2nd go to mercenary farm and buy all billets from the local blacksmith – he spawns infinite amounts when working. just let him hit the anvil at least once and then trade with him.
– 3rd go back to Khorinis and sell your swords to Harald. (Theres a dialogue option, not a standard trade window)
You can turn 10 gold + few second of hammering in to 150 gold.
Repeat this for 2, 3 hours and you should have enough gold for the rest of the game.
Eurojank is a reductive term usually describing some obscure niche thing. Gothic 1 and 2 are objectively one of the best action/rpgs ever made.
